Brilliant Scenes

You know how, as a writer, you come up with these wonderful scenes... but you can't fit them into the story?  Yeah, I suffer from that. So, here's a couple scenes I can't really fit, but they're great for character interaction.

--- Scene One ---

"What's with the hand?" She spoke suddenly, from behind me. I mulled over the answer, weighing my options.
"Penance." I allowed myself a grin. "Something your people know very little about."
"Oh?" She shoved her spear tip into the still-blistered skin on my shoulder. With a grunt, I fell to my knees, the rocks biting into the meat on my legs. She took a firm grip on a mass of my hair and yanked my face up to hers. Those pale blue eyes were ignited with her anger. "And humility is something your people severely lack."

--- Scene Two ---

"I've been wondering," She leaned forward, the fire adding a strange glow to her face. "Why don't you just fly away? I mean, why subject yourself to this?" I laughed, mostly at the suggestion that I was allowing her to treat me this way. While it was true that I could escape, I doubted I would get very far before being recaptured. She, however, didn't find the same humor I did.

"I'm funny now, aren't I?" She stood, hefting her spear. "You just remember which one of us is armed."

Heat rose through my core, she knew which buttons to push to make my angry. I don't remember getting up, but there I was towering over her, pouring my emotion into her spear tip. It gave in to the flames pretty quickly.

"I know which one of us it armed, miss."

Her eyes, wide with fear, darted back to her spear. It was ruined, and the wooden handle was starting to catch fire. "Careful," I smirked. "Don't want to burn yourself."

She swore, letting go of her weapon.
